Many families in Mumbai and Pune came from towns where the masala was bought from someone you knew. MD Masala is that kind of brand: a Maharashtrian family business from Nandurbar, grinding masala since 1997, now sold in more than 2,000 shops across Maharashtra, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, and online.

The family behind the pack

Rajendra Motilal Bora, Bori Seth to everyone, started MD Masala in 1997 with his wife Chandrakala, from their grocery shop. They began with haldi and chilli. Chicken Masala became the one everyone asked for, and it is still our biggest seller. Today it is a family business in every way: their son Anand and his wife Yogita, and their daughter Jaya and her husband Manoj Pokharna, are part of it, and the masala is made in our own factory at Patonda.
